How Did You Discover the Society of Technical Analysts of the Philippines (STA)?
“I was working with groups that taught beginner traders, and I noticed some were given titles by brokers but lacked real results. That pushed me to search for credible certifications—leading me to the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA), where STAPH is a member. That’s when I decided to pursue becoming a certified technical analyst.”
What Motivated You to Join STA, and What Made You Stay?
Rowen highlights two key factors: credibility and continuous learning. “The certification is one, and what makes me stay is the updates and training we have from time to time. Also, I can use this a proof of skill, because when the time comes, you’ll be questioned by banks why you have such large amount of money, you can be sure to show them proof that you are technical analyst and not a scammer or not a fraudster or not a criminal.” He also added, “Getting CTA certification can show that you have the skills to perform technical analysis.”
How Has the CTA Certification Advanced Your Career?
Earning the CTA certification deepened Rowen’s understanding of technical analysis methodologies, historical market patterns, and portfolio optimization. “Being a member of STA, I am looking at it to open doors at hedge funds institutions, quant firms and fintech and trading institutions.” This recognition has also opened doors to hedge funds, quant firms, and fintech institutions, reinforcing his credibility in a competitive industry. He also shared, “The certification have made looked more into the history of the concepts, their applications and the numbers that those indicators, systems and methods have to create better portfolio management of instruments being traded or managed as investments. With this credibility it can give confidence for me to tackle more challenging quant developer or quant trader roles in the future.”
